Spring has finally arrived! In Japan, while cherry blossoms are capturing everyone's attention, the countdown to the new season's tea harvest has also begun. We'll be drunk with shincha tasting in a few months.

For now, we're happy to present a collection of pottery from Japan, much of it from the town of Mashiko in Tochigi Prefecture. I lived there in 1999-2000, and made numerous trips back in the following few years.

The people and pottery of Mashiko definitely have a special place in my heart.

We hope that you will also enjoy the warmth of Mashiko-yaki.

Origin: Chiran, Kagoshima Prefecture
Cultivar: Yabukita
Infuses to a deep emerald-golden green with an herbaceous and slightly nutty aroma and flavor. Full-bodied, and very smooth with a moderate astringency level. Chiran teas are probably the best known of Kagoshima teas , enjoying a fine reputation throughout Japan.
